i promise, i'm not a pusher... but i wanted to get on a soap box for this journal to talk about something that is close to my heart and important to the lives of others.
i have been a blood donor since the age of 18 and recently became a regular platelet donor at my local blood donation center.

i am also an active member of the Be The Match Foundation for the last four years.

it was due to a friend's struggle with leukemia and her untimely death that prompted me to join the Be The Match Foundation.
also, the fact that i lost my own father to brain cancer 3 years ago keeps me focused on doing what i can to help others.
i miss my friend's contagious smile and glowing aura.
i miss my father's agressive spirit and unconditional love for me.
all i ask is, PLEASE,
consider donating blood, platelets, plasma, or red blood cells.
any of these donations are always in need and saves lives on a daily, hourly basis.
PLEASE, visit the bone marrow site and if you meet the requirements, consider joining the registry. the odds are 1 in 20,000 of identifying an unrelated compatible marrow donor.
the odds are much higher, however, for patients of minority heritage. although the odds are slim, it may be YOU who can save a life.
if you go to a local blood center, there is usually NO CHARGE to join the registry.
